Frequently Asked Questions

What do counselling sessions involve? In your 50 minute session, Sandy will be there to listen to you, with empathy and non-judgemental understanding. You can talk about whatever is on your mind, big or small. Sandy takes a Person-Centred approach and will help guide you to better understand the challenges you are facing, find renewed motivation and uncover effective strategies that work for you.

How many sessions can I book? You can book as many sessions as you like, most people like to book weekly or fortnightly and others just book in when they feel like they need extra support or something major has happened they want to talk about. Its completely up to you.

Are my counselling sessions confidential? Yes, everything we discuss in your sessions is kept confidential, unless you or someone else is deemed to be at risk of harm. Your session is a safe, confidential space where you can speak openly about what’s on your mind and receive the support you need.

Can I do a session in-person or online? Sandy offers online telehealth counselling sessions via zoom video calls or via a phone call and does not offer in-person consultations. This allows for flexible sessions, at a time and place that suits you best, wherever you are in the world.

Do I need to get a GP referral? No. You do not need a GP referral to attend your counselling session. and you can book directly online via the website.

Can I book a session if I have a diagnosed mental health condition or addiction? Counselling sessions with Sandy are suitable if you are looking for everyday guidance and support with life challenges or particular problems, career, family, social and relationship dilemmas. If you are seeking support for addictions or psychological crisis, you are best to contact a psychologist or your GP. You can also contact Lifeline for 24/7 support on 13 11 14 and always dial 000 in the case of an emergency. If you are located outside Australia, please contact your relevant emergency services for further assistance.
